When Lenore won Mx Burlesque Qld in 2016, her unique act featured her as an ibis. So for the inaugural Mx Masters red carpet in January 2025, it seemed deeply necessary to bring the ibis back - bigger and more unhinged than ever before.

What began with Lenore saying "what if they were carrying my cape" ended in 4 hand-sculpted mechanical birds whose wings flapped as Lenore walked the stage at the Princess Theatre and an entire audience lost its collective mind.

Lenore's ibises were carefully wireframed to scale, then their heads, necks and legs were hand-sculpted from air dry clay by Lenore, feathers individually cut (thanks also to the incredible help we had from close friends) from sheets of packing foam we found at Reverse Garbage.

Liss engaged their textile witch skills to turn two Fasion Nova dresses into the black and white sensation that Lenore wore - draping and hand-stitching the white accent to tie the cape and the feathered feature together (the white feathers were salvaged from Lenore's original ibis costume).

Liss then built a harness that went under the dress, a backpack to carry the birds that connected to said harness through the dress' shoulder seams, and did rolled hems on more metres of irridescent organza than they would ever like to do again please.

Music was edited by Liss, the opening line of the bio appeared to Lenore in the shower, and then Lenore walked that stage like the stunning Ibis queen she truly is.

We started building all of this one month before the show. We don't reccomend doing that.

We won't pretend this one didn't break us a little. It was, without question, worth it.

Lila asked us to create a heavily textured red corset, gloves, and headdress for her for The Bombshell Burlesque Academy's 15th Birthday celebration event.

Using a corset that Lila purchased, we altered the shape to fit both Lila's body and the aesthetic she wanted for this look, then used a variety of appliques, trims, hand-beaded sections and hand-made rhinestone fringe to add texture before then rhinesoning to tie the pieces together.

Gloves that Lila had also purchased were opened up to add beaded trim through the side seam before being rhnestoned using a templated design.

Lenore did a light wig re-style before crafing a headress from elements used on the corset and attaching it to the wig for ease of use on the day of the event.

We were tasked with creating a custom t-shirt design to commemmorate The Bombshell Burlesque Academy's 15th Birthday. Lenore's hand-drawn illustrations were vectorised and then coloured, layed out and combined with Liss's hand lettering and BBA brand fonts to create this high impact image that was then printed on black shirts ready for event day.

The same illustrations were also used to create sticker sheets that event parcipants received as part of their exclusive tote bags - also designed and produced by us!

When Phoenix Knight asked us to create his red carpet look for Mx Burlesque Queensland 2025, the vibe was something like “slutty gender bendy knight with phoenix colours and a sword that turns into a spring loaded fan”…. SO FUN!

Phoenix had already sourced feathers for the fan and headdress, as well as the most gorgeous metal armour. So we set to work imagining and then engineering fan staves and a spring loaded mechanism that meant his arrival on stage was big and masculine, with hard beats, straight lines, bold movements - then able to flip in an instant to a delicious expression of femininity - floaty, flirty, with curves and softness.

We built the fan of his dreams, a stunning headdress, then rapidly realised that heavy, spiky, metal armour is neither great to move in, or even slightly ok to wear on bare skin is just not a good time….

Instead, we built a harness x armour concept from pleather we found at Reverse Garbage, with a layer of metallic fabric glued on top. Studs, buckles, straps, and rhinestones rivets (yes, they exist!) completed the look. Light enough to move beautifully in, clear enough to read like armour from a distance.

Phoenix went on to win Mx Burlesque Queensland 2025, and we could not be prouder of him for all the work he put in, and thrilled we got to play a small part in the process.

Roxxy Tocin's brief for her red carpet last year was to “become the embodiment of oxytocin, the love drug - think sexy mad scientist”

She wanted a double breasted lab coat vibe with a large front split, a light up headpiece, thigh gauntlet and beaker. 

Her vision was “to walk forward, drink from the beaker (which may contain leds or be lit up) - and then have the head piece and thigh gauntlet light up as well.”

In the end, we chose not to include a thigh gauntlet as we felt it would clutter the overall look without adding anything useful, instead going for a more impactful option of installing LEDs in the underside of the hoop skirt that turned on at the same time as the headdress. 

This build for Roxxy included the dress, with custom rhinestoned buttons (because details matter!), metalic red gloves with heart cut outs, metallic pink underwear, harness and light up hoop skirt with reinforced front split, light up headdress, light up beaker prop and choreography.

We also made Roxxy a cute, short, fitted dress with a heart cut-out on the chest for crowing, because as the final competitor in the lineup, she had limited time to change back into her full red carpet look…. And let’s be honest, the dress on its own (without gloves, beaker, headdress or hoop skirt) just made it look like she’d been dragged straight from the sort of high control religious group I had run away from in 2010 😜
